The story goes that a traveller, tired after his journey, asked for water. The villagers refused to give him any and he went his way leaving a curse on the village. The water of the lake rose and drowned the village and the population was changed into crocodiles. Today, the crocodiles (who still wear the silver bracelets of the ancestors) are seen as sacred ancestors and offerings are made to ask for their benediction, for prosperity and descendants.
